What started out 45 years ago as an internship in the advertising department of the Dayton Daily News, has become a passion for the media business and through it eagerness to make a positive impact in the local community. Tim has participated on several industry committees and Boards including the Board President for the Arizona Newspaper Association Advertising Services and the Western Classified Advertiser Managers Association. Tim served on the Arizona Food Marketing Alliance (AFMA) Board of Directors and a trustee on the Foundation Board. AFMA comprise of food retailers and supplier in Arizona representing Arizona’s grocery industry as a unified voice to policy makers and community leaders. For two years Tim served as the President of the Arizona Food Council overseeing a major restructure of that organization. During his tenure as President, the Council raised a record number of dollars in support of the Foundation providing scholarships and tuition reimbursement for AFMA’s members and their dependent. Since 2008 AFMA has awarded over $1,000,000 in Scholarships. In 2010 Tim received AFMA’s Excellence in Leadership Award as Supplier of the Year.
Jim Raftery is the Founder, Secretary and Board Member of A Child’s Feeding Fund. Jim is a retired CPA. He began his career in public accounting in 1977 and retired as a partner in a top 100 firm in 2021. During his 44-year career Jim has extensive experience in nonprofit organizations and in conducting over 1,000 nonprofit audits and information returns and representing nonprofit clients in IRS and state oversight agency investigations. He has also been a long-time member of the Not-For-Profit Section of the American Institute of CPA’s. Jim has visited and provided project reports on numerous nonprofits globally providing narratives on the existence, ownership, valuation, reasonableness and apparent effectiveness of the cash and gifts-in-kind (non-cash) donations provided to domestic and foreign nonprofits. Jim has been a board member and treasurer of numerous nonprofit organizations over the years including Christian Services Charity that received over $10million annually in workplace charitable fund drives for distribution to its member agencies.
